On The Satisfaction Of Work

Work is what you don’t want to do

but better if you want any good.

Today was the best work day of my life,

or one of them. I played golf

So badly I felt myself a fool.

But after that, and the day before,

I acted upon a slogan read:

Only begin and it will be done.

Knowing I couldn’t finish, I started

(the day before) to repair two windows;

And today, as I say, played golf

without patience or joy;

But when the game was over

I came home and finished the job,

And I feel great!
