The Tragedy Of The Key Coup People
The tragedy of the key coup people,
or the coup key people, as you prefer,
was the fact they felt they had figured out:
The Future was theirs if they rushed it,
and the world would be so much better off.
A quarter of a million pairs of handcuffs
were on hand to put on others’ hands.
Tanks would deal with pedestrians who
would be stopped in their tracks if need be.
They simply had to ignore their senses,
and everyone else’s, and sticky pavement.
All would be well, or as well as could be
en route to a government, pure and good.
The tragedy of the key coup people
was that they and so many others suffered,
and nothing was much improved.
