Dwarfs Golfing
A foursome of dwarfs with normal balls
and ample sticks and deep voices,
(although one of them sang falsetto),
was playing golf on the Uplands Course
in high spirits, midsummer.
Like all other men they were competing,
with a lust for coin, one eye on each other,
but a wish to disguise it for better feelings,
so when out of sight in the dales on holes,
their voices wafted happy to God.
It was one of those days when all went right,
and they climbed up and down the green slopes,
and laughed at each other’s old jokes,
and looked ahead toward sitting together
afterward, and everyone putted well.
