Border Crossing

A poet professionally ate a peach

and was wondering where to put the pit

when a fly came into Canada on a banana.

He had spent the entirety of his life

with nothing more on his mind than time

and himself and the words to admit it.

The peach pit landed on the U.S. side,

the fly lifted off the peeling banana,

the poet bit into the long new fruit

and another moment transcended borders.
