Marvel Not

A marvel is something the world has,

like phosphorescent jelly fish

and cranes and orangutans and all,

not comic books, Marvel or not.

Not movies making monkey heads human,

nor multi-limbed villains, limned

in color, animated, with hooked arms…

How tiring, how dulling the wit.

How… all that stuff is exactly that,

stuff and bullshit that never composts,

bad for youth and bad for me,

a marvel they get away with it.
