The One-State Solution

The one-state solution means But One State

For people who live in that neighborhood—

No more nationally organized hate

By tribes promising their citizens good.

The problem is, basically, Love does bad.

The need to punch somebody in the nose

Springs from an aggressive affection had

For one's own side, so two come to blows.

There’s no escape! You cannot kill them all!

Nor can they kill you. You've too many kin,

Cousins unending to rise up and brawl

With any oppressor. No one can win.

The only cure for this ugly old theme

Is to put everyone on the same team.
